The Supreme Council for the referendum in the Kurdistan Region, the referendum will be held on time a meeting of the Supreme Council for the Referendum headed by Massoud Barzani, in Pirmam in the capital city of Kurdistan Erbil, ended shortly before Thursday, 21/9/2017.
The Supreme Council for the Referendum in the region issued Thursday an official communique containing four main points.
A Kurdish delegation will visit Baghdad next Saturday to discuss the referendum, the communique said, adding that talks with the central government need time.
The statement stressed that because we did not receive the alternative proposal for the referendum, and in the absence of sufficient guarantees for the independence of Kurdistan, the referendum will take place on schedule.
It was decided during the meeting that the door of dialogue and talks should remain open with the central government and give sufficient time, the communique said. The meeting decided to visit the delegation of the Supreme Council for Referendum in Baghdad on Saturday to clarify the latest positions on the referendum.
The report concluded that the Supreme Council for the referendum decided that the secretariat of the Supreme Council to announce the draft rights of minorities and the general principles of the independent Kurdistan before the twenty-fifth of September this month.
