The Turner-2 machine gun open competition was announced late last month, according to a Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs announcement.

The notice calls for prototypes that can be used in preliminary and state-run tests.

The approximately $384,000 contract calls for a prototype with interchangeable barrels of different lengths and a detachable magazine capacity that can hold between 30 and 60 rounds.

It must also feature belt-fed ammunition while meeting modern ergonomic requirements and operational indicators.

The stock must be of adjustable length and height and must be able to handle additional equipment installation, such as carrying handles, bipods and silencer capabilities.
