Palestinian-officials-Two-children-killed-in-Israeli-airstrike-in-Gaza. GAZA CITY , Gaza, Missile fragments from an Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed a 10-year-old boy and his 6-year-old sister, according to Palestinian medical officials.
Shrapnel from an airstrike targeting a Hamas base in northwestern Gaza struck and killed the boy, Yassin Abu Khoussa. He died hours after Israeli airstrikes took place throughout the Gaza strip. His sister, Israa, suffered a severe head injury and later died in a hospital, according to Dr. Basem Naim.
Two other siblings, including a 13-year-old boy, were also injured in the attack.
“I was sleeping in the other room, my kids and their mom were sleeping in this room, then I heard the blast, and rushed to their room,” the father told IMEMC News. “My boy was instantly killed, drowning in his own blood; my daughter was very seriously injured.”
According to TeleSur news, the Israeli army released a statement saying it launched the airstrikes after rockets landed in open areas in southern Israel.
No Palestinian groups took responsibility for the rocket fire toward Israel, which did not cause any reported casualties. Israel holds Hamas responsible for missile fire and other projectile attacks in the area.
