The New Mail, 1/3 2016 Mustafa Barzani spiritual father of the Kurdish nation Mullah Mustafa Barzani (1903 – 1979) The Kurdish leader from South Kurdistan in northern Iraq, was born in 14th March 1903 in a prominent area, featuring his older brother Ahmed Barzani the leadership of the revolutionary movement of the Kurdish who claimed national rights for Kurds.

But this movement put down by the royal power in Iraq, and the British occupier they used for the first time in the history a chemical weapons against the areas dominated by the Kurdish rebels.In 1935, Mustafa Barzani was exiled to the city of Sulaymaniyah with his brother Sheikh Ahmed AL Barzani.
In 1942 the leader Mustafa Barzani escaped from exile area to begin his second revolutionary, in Iran with the support of the Soviet Union. Establishing the first Kurdish republic in Mahabad region 1945 in Iran, Mullah Mustafa Barzani has served as head of the Army Staff of the Republic of Mahabad, it lasted only for a short period 11-month only , then collapsed by the Iranian government after the withdrawal of Soviet troops from northern Iran, major powers was stationed in southern Iran, under the pressure the Soviet forces had entered Iranian territory during World war II.
After the collapse of the nascent Kurdish state in Mahabad, Barzani went to the Soviet Union with 500 armed Peshmergah on foot passed by rugged mountain in Iran and Turkey, where they faced many obstacles on their way down to the Azerbaijani Soviet border temporarily and stayed there for ten years.

In 1958 with the declaration of Republic of Iraq ,the Iraqi leader Abdul Karim Qassim called Barzani to return to Iraq and began discussions on the Kurds to give some nationalist demands, but the demands of Barzani and the Kurdish nation did not match what was the intention of President Abdul Karim Qasim, the revolution and conflict began again where Abdul Karim Qassem has led a military campaign against a strongholds of Barzani and Peshmargah in 1961 .
When Abdul Salam Aref ruled Iraq, he agreed with a number of Kurdish leaders (political and military) members, including Barzani on a comprehensive solution to the Kurdish issue, as announced in April and May 1964 agreement, which included granting the Kurds cultural a rights and contribute to the governance and some certain other rights. But some current Arab national was able to sneak into power and blow up the entire agreement and continued to state their proceedings repression of the Kurdish people. This led to renew the armed conflict between Kurds and Iraqi regime, and the Kurdish issue has been roiling Baghdad’s government then they decided to haunt Barzani.

After nine years of war between the Kurds and Iraqi government , led by Barzani, the Iraqi government was forced to agree with Barzani in the agreement of autonomy for the Kurds in 1970, which did not last long because of the leadership of the Baath party autonomy agreement coup in 1974 and the signing of an agreement with the Shah of Iran under the waiver Iraq Shatt al-Arab and Al Ahwaz compared to halt Iran for providing military and logistical support for Kurdish rebels, the Barzani was supported by Iranian King Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who cut off his support for Barzani on the aftermath of the present Convention Algiers agreement signed between Iran and Iraq in Algerian ,and the US initiative was a patron and Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

Barzani has left Kurdistan for some health issue toward the United States of America for the treatment , and he died there on 1st March 1979 at George Washington Hospital after a long illness.
