Miss World Canada prevented from boarding flight to China

HONG KONG,  Miss World Canada has been barred from traveling to China for the annual beauty pageant.

Anastasia Lin, 25, who has been critical of Beijing’s human rights record, said on Thursday that she was not allowed to board a plane for Sanya, on Hainan Island, The Toronto Star reported.

“My denial was unfortunate, but not entirely unexpected,” Lin said in a statement that she had prepared ahead of the travel ban.
