At least 8 dead in two Nigeria suicide bomb attacks

ABUJA, Nigeria,  At least eight people died and 24 others were injured in two suicide bomb attacks by suspected Boko Haram militants in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri.

The attacks, carried out by women, happened in two separate locations. In one incident, a bomber tried to enter a refugee camp where more than 16,000 people are housed, killing five people and injuring 11 others.

In the second attack, three people were killed at a Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. gas station. Army spokesman Col. Sani Usman said the bomber was on a tricycle near a fuel tanker at the station, but “miraculously, a car came in between them.”

“The bomber, whether by error or whatever, detonated, killing all the three occupants of the tricycle. There was no other person involved,” he said
