ISTANBUL, Turkey, An explosion on an aircraft at an Istanbul airport killed a person cleaning the plane Wednesday.

A second person was injured in the incident where aircraft are parked at Sabiha Gokcen airport, Istanbul’s secondary airport. Authorities have yet to determine if a bomb detonated on the Pegasus Airlines plane.
Some witnesses said they heard three successive explosive noises. Zehra Yamac, 30, was cleaning the plane at the time and died of head injuries. A second cleaning staff person, Canan Burgulu, was injured and hospitalized.
No passengers were on the plane at the time of the explosion, and airport personnel released a statement indicating the incident had no effect on the airport’s takeoff and landing schedule.
Information on the type of plane involved was not revealed. Pegasus, a Turkish-based low-cost airline, flies Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 models.
